Team1 Concepts /The movement

Team1 stands for a team of individuals that operate as one unit. This unit was constructed to conceptualize a multitude of ideas and environments centered around the uplifting of humanity.

Team1 started as a vision to develop a group of athletes on all levels and age groups, under one roof, with one brand. The Concepts of Team1 had not been created at this time. The idea was to provide athletic development to athletes with a potential to grow, at all levels, at a discounted price. This carefully selected group of athletes were offered the task of participating in a joint vision, of creating athletic development programs. This idea would help all of its participants to receive equal evolution. The athletes were broken up into two categories, Team1 Juniors and the Team1 Seniors. The Team1 Juniors were the younger generation of athletes that started from the Elementary School level, that included Middle School and High School athletes as well. The Team1 Seniors were current or past athletes that played on a collegiate or professional level. The older athletes were responsible for the development of the younger athletes. Athletes with strengths in one area of development was also responsible for the development of the other athletes that displayed weaknesses in the same areas of development. This would ensure that everyone involved would receive equal development. Not only would they receive equal development, but they would also develop leadership skills and receive education to help provide athletic development within the community.

Concepts was added to Team1, as a result of the amount of time spent as a group, learning about one another. We would become a group of individuals from different races, ethnic backgrounds, with different religious beliefs. We shared different personalities, a wide range of disabilities, personal struggles and battles in life. Although our backgrounds were different, we had one thing in common. We all wanted to become better individuals and better athletes. We understood that we were all human and processed information based upon our environments, our past and current experiences. The more that we developed a bond, it became evident that there was far more than athletic development needed, in order for us to move forward as productive citizens within our communities. Life was not built upon the dream, of becoming an athlete alone. Team1 had generated a shielded environment to protect everyone from personal judgement and negative feedback, so that everyone could feel free to be themselves. We found ourselves spending countless hours working on our personal development as a unit and as individuals. This would lead to a family bond, forming a brotherhood and Sisterhood of overall development throughout life. The concepts of techniques, tools and systems of overall development that we would continue to create for our overall ability to survive, became known as Team1 Concepts.

A dedicated space was devoted for all the members of Team1 to collectively develop as a group and to develop as individuals alike. During this time, the dedicated space of development was open and available 24 hours a day. The time would provide overall access as needed, for each individual member of Team1 to exercise and pursue, not only their goals of becoming an athlete, but also to embrace their personal goals of overall development as well. There were no mirrors on the walls to reflect anything about physical development. The walls were outlined with over 1500 hours of hand stenciled, motivational quotes, to redirect negative perspectives and to create positive perceptions of our lives and ourselves. The quotes were posted upon the walls to make a bold statement. We wanted to ensure that everyone understood that strength was not defined by muscle alone. The wall became known as “The Great Wall of Motivation”.

The first quote stenciled on the wall was “We Are What We Help Each Other Become”. This quote became the motto of Team1 Concepts. This became the code that we continue to live by.

The energy among Team1 became infectious. Aside of our own development space, Team1 frequented gyms, football fields, soccer fields, basketball courts and other sports facilities in Northern Va. and the Washington D.C. metropolitan area.  The more that we trained, developed as a unit outside in public eye and showed up at sporting events, the more that people took notice. Over time, the parents of the athletes started to participate in the programs and realized that they too could benefit from these programs even though they were not seeking to become an athlete. Eventually people from all walks of life started to show up and participate in these overall development programs that was originally created for that of an athlete. Team1 increased to not only include athletes, but also individuals from all walks of life that shared the passion for the uplifting of humanity and everything that Team1 Concepts represents.

Taking Team1 Concepts to the next level

As a result of providing development to individuals of all walks of life, Opportunities arose to provide overall development programs to Schools, Corporations and Organizations as well.

Our Partnerships and Community development

AHCP (American Health Care Professionals) is a Community Based Organization located in Tysons Corner Va. This organization is accredited by the Joint Commission to provide comprehensive, patient-centric models inclusive of: Home Health, Hospice, Telehealth, Mobile Health, Global Health and Wellness Programs.

One of our Team1 members was employed by AHCP (American Health Care Professionals). He just happened to be recognized for his personal development and promoted to another position within his company. The CEO of AHCP asked him, how was he capable of receiving the individual development that he was displaying, in such a short period of working at the company. He replied that his overall development was a direct reflection of operating within a program called Team1 Concepts. He further explained that Team1 Concepts had given him a set of tools and techniques to help him improve in every area of his life.

The CEO (Clishia Taylor) of American Health Care Professionals phoned One Step Beyond Fitness and Team1 Concepts the next day and presented them with an opportunity for a joint partnership to provide Health Screenings, Fitness and Health/Wellness to at- risk individuals within the surrounding communities, Churches and Community Colleges.

DC Public Charter Schools

We have partnered with Kingsman Academy of the D.C. Public Charter School system. We were tasked to develop a health and wellness program to help students diagnosed with mental and emotional disabilities.

These students also displayed aggressive behavior, suffered from anxiety and depression among other things. While developing these programs, we found out that the lack of structured overall development programs, was one of the reasons that lead to a breakdown of the overall educational system. The more we became involved with the development of these programs, the more we realized that most of the youth attending school there had mental and emotional disabilities. A lot of their signs of aggressive behavior, anxiety, stress and depression was a direct result of a lack of resources and structured overall development programs within their communities. They had become the product of their struggles and inability to survive their current and previous experiences within their environment. Kingsman Academy provided an environment to create health and wellness programs for students from all walks of life. This created another opportunity for us to work with students that displayed various personal issues that reside within group homes for troubled teens. These students attended school but were on house arrest as a result of becoming a part of our youth judicial system. They too were the products of an environment that lacked overall development programs to help them get back on track to become productive citizens within their communities. We decided to design a program that would teach the youth of today how to challenge their mind from the perspective of how the student currently identified with their lives, created from their past and current experiences of their environments. The programs that we decided to create aimed to invoke a system of survival through the identification of fitness tools and education to help them change their perception of themselves and their perspective of life.

We have developed an after school mentoring program called O.U.R.R.S. (Outreach, Unity, Renovation, Restoration, Spirituality) This program was developed to provide continued support and development throughout the day for students after the release of school. This program was initially designed to coincide with the programs created for the school system, so that the youth would spend more time in a structured environment to reinforce the development and use of structure during school. This program offers overall development to the family members of the youth that participate as well. They receive help with homework, looking for jobs, motivational input and speeches, family development, development of spirituality, in addition to athletic development.

We have created a program called S.O.A.R. (stimulate, optimize, adapt, results). This program was developed to uplift the individual that cannot see beyond today, the individual that is very difficult to motivate or the individual that finds it extremely difficult to move forward. These individuals may suffer from mental and emotional disabilities, aggressive behavior, extreme patterns of dysfunction, one on the path of a self- destructive culture, or are simply a product of their environment. This program can be used to redirect all individuals from all walks of life.

District Reign FC

District Reign FC is a Non-Profit Soccer organization that was created to provide overall development to its athletes. The majority of the athletes that participate within this organization does not have the financial capabilities to pay for the type of development that is offered within. We wanted to offer the opportunity for the right athletes with a strong work ethic to receive the more support and athletic development of similar programs, that require expensive membership fees to attend.

One Step Beyond Fitness was tasked with creating overall athletic development fitness programs, that incorporated Team1 Concepts. This would ensure the preparation of each athlete to operate within a team environment and become productive citizens within their communities.

Other Organizations

We have even provided education, team building programs, fitness/health and wellness programs to local law firms, working professionals, the everyday Joe that just wants to challenge him/her self to reach another level, and individuals with mental and physical disabilities. I think that we have a pretty good idea of the future direction of fitness/health and wellness and how it fits into the landscape of any environment.  What we have learned as a result of our partnerships, years of experience, personal research, community activism and working with individuals from all walks of life, is that regardless of our backgrounds, almost everyone's mind is structured in a similar manner. Our behavior, our perception of self and our view of life is usually based upon 1 of 4 things. Our DNA, our personal experiences, our environment and the way that we process information.

We believe that it is difficult to reconnect to a community without fully understanding its needs. Either we are going to dictate a change of energy within our environment or the energy of our environment will dictate a change in us.
